Resisting collectivism

Thursday, February 9, 2012

American society is rapidly changing.  Freedom is being eclipsed by a dark collectivism.  Speech is being manipulated at work, in politics and in society at large.  Financial freedom is slowly decaying through confiscatory taxation and burdensome regulation.  America is no longer the land of the free.

Government has encroached into our private lives with impunity.  Privacy is rapidly disappearing, every transaction and move made by American citizens is easily tracked and recorded.  These developments are frightening.  The soul of the nation is dampened by fear and intimidation.

We must consider that the intentions of politicians are nefarious.  The call for unlimited power for the Executive branch, if allowed, would be a breach of the Constitution and a dangerous precedent.  As we move toward a more authoritarian society, life will become more difficult and restricted.

Ignoring this encroaching evil only feeds it.  Silence in the face of darkness is the coward’s path.  Silence is easy.  Christians must begin to understand the power of the message they believe.  Nations tremble when righteousness leads.  Resisting the enslavement of humanity is the highest calling of believers.  Love compels us to stand in the gap and resist the power of the tyrant.  We must be reminded that the weapons of our warfare are not of this world, but mighty through God.  To fix the nation, we must first fix ourselves.  The Christian’s greatest asset is his connection to God.

Darkness fears the light.  So then, let the brightness of Christian love dispel the blackness of the present night.  Speak with boldness, pray publicly, share your faith and cry out against oppression.  Speak for those who are too frightened, weak or ignorant to speak for themselves.  Act like real men and women of God.

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. --Ephesians 6:13
